Categorizing by author

Hi. Yes, we could categorize articles by author, but I don't think that would be much of an improvement. Could you explain why you think we should do that?

Usually categories only make sense to group larger sets of articles together. For an author with many books or articles here, it would make sense. But creating a category to hold just a few articles is usually more work without helping much. If an author has a series of 10 books, it can also make sense to create a template to be used on all 10 pages shown the sequence of the books. But again, it is more work to create the template, if the author has only written 2 or 3 related books, it's probably just easier to edit the 3 or 4 articles (one article for each book and another article about the author). If others want to have lots of author categories, we can certainly consider it. Was there a particular author you thought should have a category? Or are there additional reasons you'd think that author categories are a good idea, which I may not have realized?

Admiral mike501-
Good to have you here and thinking about the categories that might help users.
Your English is quite good, but I'm glad you'll understand if we re-word a few things. (That happens for native speakers too.)
I'm not sure that the categories by first letter (like) are very useful, but we can wait to see if others want to use it too. Did you know that the books are already in alphabetical order within the categories of the types of books, like Category:Mystery? And within the categories for authors, like Category:Mystery Authors they are organized alphabetically by last name. That takes an extra step where we put a tag into articles about the order for alphabetizing authors, but it seems to be worth it. (An example of the tag to change the sort order is {{DEFAULTSORT:Secret Life of Bees, The}}.)

I'll go one step further. I do not think that categories like "Books (A)" and "Books (B)" are helpful at all. Please do not create any more categories like that or add more pages to such categories. However, it is nice to have another editor here again and thank you very much for creating a page on Fahrenheit 451. that's a page which we really needed.
