Template:Infobox book The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien is a tale that found it's beginnings as Tolkien told serialized bedtime stories to his children..

About

Bilbo Baggins was a Hobbit who lived in a house built by his father called Bag End. Bag End was located on Bagshot Row, in the town of Hobbiton, South Farthing, in the Shire. Hobbits are peaceful creatures who enjoy gardening and most of them live in tunnels under the ground. They are not tunnels like animals live in, but resemble houses inside. Hobbits are not adventure loving people, and so it is a challenging and ironic "adventure" that Bilbo spends the length of the book on.

Trivia

The Hobbit was originally not conceived as part of the Middle-earth legendarium. When Tolkien began writing The Hobbit 's sequel (The Lord of the Rings), he made it part of his previously-existing legendarium. For a complete list, see the Tolkien page.
