Joseph Rudyard Kipling (December 30, 1865 - January 18, 1936) was a British author and journalist who was born in India. During his lifetime, Kipling traveled extensively and lived in many places. His works include an autobiography, travel writings, books of military history, novels, poems and short stories of various genres, including fantasy, historical fiction, science fiction and ghost stories. He is best known today for his children's books, including The Jungle Book and Just So Stories.
Kipling won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1907.
