Quarter Share is a science fiction novel by Nathan Lowell which tells the story of 18-year-old Ishmael Wang ("Call me Ishmael", begins the novel), and what he does after his mother dies in an accident. Since his mother worked for the university on a company planet, Ishmael must leave the planet as soon as possible, or pay for deportation. The only choice he really has is to sign up as unskilled labor on a merchant spaceship. He gets a job in the galley of the Lois McKendrick, and the rest of the book follows his adventures learning the ropes and getting to know the rest of the crew.

Young Ishmael has a head on his shoulders and soon comes up with several schemes to help his friends turn a profit, and have fun while doing so.

This book is the first of the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper series.
"Call me Ishmael." is the famous first line of Moby Dick.

Quarter Share was nominated for a Parsec Award in 2007.
