Partial plot synopsis

Miri lives is a high up mountain village where the primary trade good produced is the special linder rock they quarry. Village life is upset when same emissaries from the crown show up to let them know that according to long standing tradition, the signs have shown that the next princess must come from the village. So, a school to train all the eligible, potential princesses is set up, and Miri must attend. The girls learn more than they expected, and it changes the village and all the girls in unexpected ways.
