Pamela Lyndon Travers, better known as P. L. Travers, (born Helen Lyndon Goff, August 9, 1899 - April 23, 1996) was an Australian-born British author who is best known as the writer of the Mary Poppins series of children's novels. She was also a poet, actress and journalist.

Travers did not like the Mary Poppins film adaptation by Disney, which covered some of the contents from Mary Poppins and Mary Poppins Comes Back. So, she was very cautious about further adaptations and would not allow Disney to do any more.
