Harper Lee (April 28, 1926 - February 19, 2016) was a Pulitzer Prize-winning American writer. She wrote two published novels, To Kill a Mockingbird (1960) and Go Set a Watchman (written before To Kill a Mockingbird but unpublished until 2015).
One of her childhood friends was Truman Capote. For years there were rumors that he wrote To Kill a Mockingbird, but he said that was not true and his contemporaneous letters supported that Ms. Lee was the author.
