I've written some evaluations about some books that I have read, and I'd like to add them to Literawiki. But, I was wondering what I should title the pages. Should it be "BookTitle/Evaluation" or should it just be the book's title? Swannie § ♣ ☼ 13:22, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- I would suggest that the article that has the same title as the book be more generally about the book.
- So far we've had a few different ways of doing handling evaluative comments. I think a variety are good. A short review, evaluation, commentary or recommendation (like "if you liked this book, try...") is appropriate for the main page. (Examples: Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, The Bone People). Another short form of review is to just add your favorite book or author to the favorites category.
- Longer reviews can either have their own page (e.g., Wodehouse Memories) along the lines that you suggest, Swannie, or we can have multiple reviews on one sub-page. (Cheaper by the Dozen/reviews was intended for multiple reviews.) I would think that an evaluative essay would deserve its own page. And unlike other types of articles, it would be appropriate to sign an essay, if you wanted to do so.
- There can also be evaluative articles comparing different authors (e.g., Poe v Doyle), books or styles.
- Any page with a review belongs in the Category:Review. I suppose eventually we might need more than one review category.
- Another relevant article might be how to write a good review.
