My Name is Red is a novel by the Npbel Prize-winning Turkish author Orhan Pamuk. It was first published in Turkey in 1998. An English translation by Erdag M. Goknar (ISBN 0-375-70685-2) was first published in the UK in 2001. My Name is Red won the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award in 2003.
The main characters in the novel are miniaturists in the Ottoman Empire, and the events revolve around the murder of one of the painters, as related in the first chapter.
