Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage is a non-fiction book by the American writer Alfred Lansing. It was first published in 1959. It is about the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, a failed British expedition to the Antarctic, which took place between 1914 and 1917 and was led by Sir Ernest Shackleton.

Review[]

The New York Times Book Review stated "One of the great adventure stories of our time".

The Wall Street Journal stated that the book was about, "Grit in the face of seemingly insurmountable adversity"

I completely agree with both of these statements and would add the book is well written. This is the story of an incredible voyage to the Antarctica, where the ship was eventually crushed by ice and the crew survived a very long and strenuous journey. The leader Ernest Shackleton provided superb leadership and timely decision making while the crew accomplished amazing feats. All hands survived.

Great read.
