Astrid Lindgren (November 4, 1907-January 28, 2002) was a Swedish children's book writer. Among her well-known book characters are Pippi Longstocking, the Bullerby Children and Emil of Lönneberga.
She was awarded the Right Livelihood Award in 1994.[1]
