A Room of One's Own is an extended essay by the English author Virginia Woolf. The published essay is based upon two lectures Woolf delivered to the Arts Society at Newnham College and Girton College (the women's colleges at the University of Cambridge) in October 1928.

An important feminist text, the essay is the source for the oft-quoted dictum: "a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction."
